Founded in 2011 by veteran improv comedy performer, actor, and educator Kim Greene Hiller, THE LAUGHING ACADEMY began as an extracurricular program within the Glenview Public School System, eventually offering more than 40 classes across 12 area schools.
In 2019 the school moved into its own studio in Glenview Illinois, and expanded its offerings to include classes for high-school students and adults, as well as summer camps, birthday parties, and private events.
In 2020, TLA's Academy After Hours performance series debuted, bringing top national comedians to perform in the studio's intimate mainstage space, offering a unique opportunity for locals to enjoy some of the best in the business right in their own "backyard."
In 2026, The Laughing Academy relocated to the Lake Geneva area, with a focus on presenting pop-up comedy shows at local venues, and bringing the benefits of improv to private events - from parties, birthdays and weddings, to corporate training, team-building, and anywhere laughter brings people together!
